Okay, it’s here, December has arrived – so I guess it’s officially Christmas?!

We know it’s been a long year and it’s so easy to slip into holiday mode, wind down and look forward to some much deserved downtime. However, if you’re running an online business, there are a few things you should be doing before you put your feet up and feast on a plate of mince pies.

Planning ahead with your website, keeps you one step ahead of the competition and in prime position to get that click in search results.

Start looking ahead to 2108 – now!

As we approach the end of the year, now is a good time to review your website analytics. Check what parts of your website have worked for you this year and equally as important, check areas that have fallen down. Perhaps you have had a lot of abandoned carts on your e-commerce website or a particular page within your website has a high bounce rate or drop off percentage.

Figure out why some pages of your website are working and why others are falling down. Often, a fresh approach to the page content can fix a lot of woes. Keep in mind that Google is looking for quality content on your pages and also a good user experience.

Be sure to also use your Search Console and dig deep to see what searches your website is showing for, use that information to possibly build new entry points to your website to capture new traffic flows.

Think about how you can increase the authority of your website in the New Year. Now is also a good time to make sure your website is fully mobile compatible and if you’re running a website in WordPress, make sure your plugins and WordPress versions are all updated.

Look at how you can improve your visitor experience, perhaps less clicks to reach a product or making your business services easier to locate within your website.

Review the good things and the bad things about your website, always look to improve the quality of your website and keep planning ahead!
